I love Sherlockiana in all its various forms, but I absolutely adore pastiches. Within their pages, Holmes, Watson and Co. live on, and on, and on, and it’s always 1895. Or 1871. Or 1927. Or the 21st century. Or….

At any rate, in this blog, I plan to review whatever Holmesian and Holmes-related books and stories. Looking for a particular book, a recommendation, wondering if something’s worth a read, or just looking for discussion?  I hope this blog is one of the  places you’ll visit whenever you’re on Baker Street.

  1. Hello – since someone was nice enough to give me a Versatile Blogger Award (clearly he hasn’t met me), I feel duty bound to pass that on. Here’s the link, and if I’ve done this right it will explain everything in words which I have faithfully cut and pasted (thereby proving my versatility).
Whether or not you choose to follow this up (and it’s taken me, as a rookie, ages to do it) I do mean it, as I enjoy your blog very much.

  2. Pretty sweet you are writing a book! Sent here from the LDW giveaway 🙂

  3. For every ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDERSTERN ARE DEAD or WIDE SARGASSO SEA (works that, to my mind, successfully used exnitisg fictional characters), there are dozens of “Jane Austen solves a mystery” or “Jane Eyre fights the zombies” stories to contend with. As a general rule, I try to avoid anything that reimagines a fictional character–which just seems lazy to me. I almost tore my hair out when Margaret Mitchell’s estate permitted someone to write not one, but two sequels to GONE WITH THE WIND so that Scarlett and Rhett could have their happy ending. Oh, dear.
